Now that we’re close to a week after International Bacon Day and my own personal 24 hour bacon feast, the salt induced swelling in my fingers has finally subsided enough to announce the winners of our Bacon Day Giveaways. If you follow me on Twitter (@BBQAddictsJason), then you were lucky enough to have a few extra chances to score a Bacon Day Goodie Bag. Thanks to everyone who participate in the bacon trivia contest, the bacon scavenger hunt, and the bacon raffle. Before we announce all of the winners, I also want to thank theotherwhitemeat.com for hooking us up with the awesome Bacon Goodie Bags containing a bacon gift certificate, a bacon cookbook, bacon bandages, bacon seasoning, and bacon candy. Without further ado, here are the winners…

The last Saturday before Labor Day is almost upon us, which means we’re getting close to the porkiest holiday the world has to offer. For those not in the know, I’m talking about International Bacon Day. It’s the one day a year that the citizens of Earth put aside their differences and bask in the glory of the world’s most perfect food. Okay, so maybe it’s not quite to that level yet, but you can certainly do your part by partaking in a bacon feast…and score some free bacon schwag for doing so!!!

Bacon Explosion and the Great American Barbecue
Posted by Jason on June 1, 2009
It’s taken a full week, but now that we’re fully recovered from The Great American Barbecue it’s time to get blogging again. The festival was a landmark weekend for us, as we announced the upcoming release of our fully cooked, pre-smoked, heat and eat Bacon Explosion. This means that the hungry vistors of our site will no longer need any type of barbecue expertise to enjoy the authentic smokey flavor that our recipe calls for. The entire weekend was deemed our official “product launch party”, and we treated festival goers to over 3,000 samples from our first production run.
Contest Calendar: Great American Barbecue

On Memorial Day weekend, hundreds of the world’s top competition barbecue teams will converge on Sandstone Amphitheater outside of Kansas City for one of the largest barbecue celebrations the country has to offer, the Great American Barbecue Festival. With an expected crowd of 50,000 people, the organizers are estimating over 70,000 pounds meat and 60,000 gallons of beer will be consumed over the course of the three day weekend. To top things off, they’ve also invited the BBQ Addicts to give an official culinary demonstration on how make a perfect Bacon Explosion…plus we’ll be unveiling our latest project, and it has nothing to do with our upcoming book!
Bacon Explosion: A Fan Club is Born

With the launch of our Bacon Explosion recipe we invited our readers to send us pictures of their family and friends enjoying the Bacon Explosion experience. Little did we know that thousands of you would actually take us up on the offer and flood our inbox with links, photos, movies and stories. Needless to say it’s been quite the task, but we’ve finally sorted through all of the emails, tweets and messages to bring you some of our favorite submissions.
Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival: Bacon Bacon Bacon

A couple weekends ago, the BBQ Addicts crew ventured to Des Moines, IA for the second annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. I’ve just got one word for this event: Awesome! Well, two words: Awesome Bacon! Approximately 300 bacon fanatics came to the event and Brooks Reynolds (one of the Bacon Overlords of the event) invited us up to cook 30 or so Bacon Explosions for the crowd.
Weekend Update: Bacon, Bacon, and More Bacon

This week has been filled with bacony goodness, and the weekend looks to be more of the same. Tonight we’re heading to Des Moines, Iowa for tomorrow’s Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. But before we get too far into that, we want to personally thank each and every one of our readers who took part in the Bacon Explosion survey this past week. As promised, we have randomly selected a participant to receive a gift basket full of fantastic barbecue supplies. And the lucky winner is…
Bacon Explosion Oven Recipe

Okay, here’s the deal. BBQ Addicts in no way endorses the cooking of the Bacon Explosion in the oven. In fact, it kind of ticks us off a bit. It’s like putting ketchup on a steak. It’s like looking at a picture of Niagara Falls and saying you’ve been there. It’s like owning one of those electric bush trimmers and calling it a chainsaw. It’s like…well you get the point. However, with the massive amounts of email from our readers asking how to make it we have to give you the goods. Not everyone has a smoker. If you don’t we recommend getting a stovetop smoker before you do this method. That way you’ll still have the wonderful smoke flavor inside your Bacon Explosion.
